Northland Crane Service helped replace a large statue at the top of a popular church temple in Oakdale, Minnesota. The company used two National Crane NBT60XL boom trucks for the project. One lifted a crew member in a basket to rig the lift, while the other crane lifted the 1,200-lb statue of an angel. The statue was removed to be refurbished, and an exact replica replaced it. “Both boom trucks were set up with 150 ft of main boom. We needed a good capacity at that boom length, and it streamlined planning with them both being the same model,” said Erik Peterson, owner of Northland Crane Service. “By using the NBTs, we could use the driveway and avoid the grass — which the customer loved — and still lift strongly from that distance. We were in and out in three hours.”

Northland Crane Service has a 10-strong fleet of National Crane boom trucks, including NBT1300A, NBT45-2, NBT55L, and NBT60XL cranes. The two NBT60XLs each offer a 60 USt capacity and a 151 ft boom.

The Elk River, Minnesota-based company recently expanded beyond National Crane, picking up a Grove GMK6300L-1 all-terrain crane for precast, cell tower, and refinery work. It gets all of its cranes from MGX Equipment Services, with which it has been working for 10 years and calls an “awesome partner” for sales, service, and support.
