Autokrane Werner Spallek GmbH & Co. KG from Ibbenbüren in North Rhine-Westphalia has invested in a new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane. The 90-metre-long telescopic boom and longstanding partnership with Liebherr were the prime motivators behind the procurement of the powerful 300-tonne crane. Representing the second generation of the family-run company, Philipp Spallek accepted the new crane at the manufacturer’s plant in Ehingen. A further crane, an LTM 1110-5.2, has already been ordered for delivery in the spring.
For the family-run company Spallek, the impressive lifting height of the LTM 1300-6.3 from Liebherr was a crucial purchase criterion. "The 90 metre telescopic boom can be carried on the road with an axle load of 12 tonnes and this makes it a unique feature of the crane in its class. With its hydraulically adjustable, 20-metre-long double folding jib, the 300-tonne crane can achieve lifting heights of up to 110 metres,” explains Philipp Spallek.
The crane company has already had positive experience with the LTM 1230-5.1, which is equipped with a 75-metre-long telescopic boom. “With the procurement of the LTM 1300-6.3, we are now achieving significantly greater load capacities and lifting heights,” clarifies Spallek. The 6-axle crane also scores with its features, ensuring cost-effective, safe and powerful operation: VarioBase®Plus, VarioBallast®, Auto-Ballast and the Windspeed Load Charts, which are important particularly at great heights
Successfully in operation
The LTM 1300-6.3 from Liebherr has already proven its success at Spallek. One of its first jobs at the end of March was above the roofs of Osnabrück, where the mobile crane was used to dismantle a top-slewing crane. It was a challenging mission, one in which the 300-tonne crane was able to really show off its strengths.
The variable VarioBase® support base meant that the work could be carried out without problems even when space was at a premium. Only one side of a road had to be closed off for the operation, enabling traffic to continue flowing unimpeded on the other side of the road. With a boom radius of 42 metres, the LTM 1300-6.3 from Liebherr had to manage a load of up to 9.2 tonnes. Thanks to the mobile crane's long telescopic boom and short setup time, the lifting of the individual components went smoothly and the tower crane was fully dismantled within a day.
The company has a broad base and serves a diverse customer segment, ranging from construction and industry to chemistry, the energy sector and infrastructure. The LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane from Liebherr will be used in particular for the assembly and dismantling of construction cranes and pylons, since it offers the crucial advantage of not requiring the mounting of fixed jibs or folding jibs. This results in significant savings in terms of personnel, transport and installation costs, as well as increasing cost-effectiveness.
