Potain fleet helps construct large-scale housing development in Tampa

Eight Potain tower cranes are busy at work in downtown Tampa, Florida, where an entirely new neighborhood is being built from the ground up.

The project, called Water Street Tampa, is a nine million square foot mixed-use residential and retail development that will connect residents and visitors to area mainstays such as the Tampa Convention Center and The Florida Aquarium. Once completed, it will nearly double the number of housing units in the neighborhood.

The cranes for the Water Street Tampa project were provided by Maxim Crane Works, which owns the largest Potain rental fleet in North America. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company operates nearly 300 Potain cranes. The Potain tower cranes on location include three MD 485 B models, two MR 418 models, two MR 605 B models, an MDT 269 and a Manitowoc 2250 crawler crane.

“Our tower cranes have overcome tight quarters and work at different heights concurrently moving concrete, rebar and precast panels at a steady pace,” said Dustin Carmack, regional operations manager at Maxim Crane Works. “These cranes are adaptable to urban settings and have been at the site for over a year and have shown great performance during this time.”
