Doosan Infracore has acquired ISO 45001, an international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. The picture shows Doosan Infracore's Global R&D Center in Dong-gu, Incheon, Korea.

  • Company innovates its OH&S management system with advanced technology
  • Equipped with an advanced OH&S management system for stricter international standards.

Launched by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in March 2018, ISO 45001 is an international standard related to occupational health and safety (OH&S) management systems. One of the key evaluation criteria is the efforts made by employees to systematically identify and manage their organization's health and safety risk factors. The standard demands a higher level of occupational health and safety management companywide than that required for 'OHSAS 18001,’ which Doosan Infracore has also acquired. ISO 45001, for instance, requires compliance with stricter standards for an integrated ISO document control system and workers’ engagement in occupational health and safety policies.

To meet the ISO 45001 requirements, Doosan Infracore has innovated its workplace OH&S management system by introducing advanced technologies, among other things. Since the introduction of the Doosan EHS Rating System (DSRS), an EHS evaluation tool developed by Doosan Group, Doosan Infracore has maintained a high level of health and safety management in compliance with global standards. The company has also developed an EHS IT system called “DooGreen” on its own, and has integrated its efforts in the areas of health and safety related laws and standards, chemical substances, laboratory safety, firefighting facility management, and employee health checkup history management.

In April, Doosan Infracore completed the setting up of an integrated monitoring system that uses IoT technology to monitor the performance of all its business sites across the country. For instance, the company has attached IoT-based sensors to all the pollutant emission facilities and environmental impact facilities at all its workplaces in order to keep track of the operational status of safety/environment-related facilities at its workplaces in real time so as to be able to respond to an emergency immediately.

Although safety has mainly been promoted by safety managers up until now, from now on stakeholders as well as staff and executives will be required to participate widely in the company’s safety efforts. The OH&S management system has also shifted its focus to identifying potential workplace hazards and preventing them in advance.

“Investment in health and safety is critical not only for protecting our employees but also for promoting sustainable corporate growth,” said an executive from Doosan Infracore. “We will continue making comprehensive and scientific preventive efforts while taking responsible actions to promote an advanced safety culture among our suppliers and local communities.”
