New AC 45 City for Niessen Kran-Service

The people at Mönchengladbach-based NKS Niessen Kran-Service GbR truly value the quality of Demag® City cranes: In addition to a Demag AC 40 City and an AC 70 City, the crane service provider has now added another model from the range to its fleet in the form of a new AC 45 City. The sale was handled by Tadano Sales Manager Manfred Drößer, who got to witness an entirely new experience for Niessen as a result:

“This is the first time we buy a new crane – and it absolutely had to be a City crane. We all agreed on that,” report Alexander and Sebastian Niessen, who manage the company as a brother duo and are currently in the process of expanding and upgrading their fleet. Accordingly, the AC 45 City will not be the last new unit they buy – and in this regard, they have Tadano and Demag cranes in their sights. After all, the brothers believe that the two brands have an excellent reputation for a good reason and complement each other perfectly. This is why they consider the merger into a single brand to be the right and logical choice.

NKS Niessen Kran-Service GbR specializes in crane repairs and crane rentals. The crane business has a long family tradition with owners Alexander and Sebastian Niessen: Their grandfather used to run a crane rental company, and their father had worked in the crane industry as well. And since the two brothers have “cranes in their blood,” they started by opening a repair service company for cranes in 2011, which they then expanded in 2016 by taking over a crane rental company and its cranes. The NKS fleet currently comprises cranes with lifting capacities of 40 to 500 tonnes.

Niessen will be primarily using its new AC 45 City for concrete construction projects, but also for indoor assignments. In fact, the latter is where the crane’s design advantages really get a chance to shine: “Its ability to telescope large weights under load makes it simply the best choice there as far as we’re concerned,” Alexander Niessen explains. “And it’s also unbeatable when it comes to working in tight spaces – above all, thanks to the Flex Base outrigger system, which has outriggers that can be extended to any point within their available range and is really a fantastic enhancement to the IC‑1 Plus control system,” his brother Sebastian adds. In addition, the AC 45 City handles very well on roads and offers a more stable driving feel than its predecessor. Moreover, it remains significantly under a 12-tonne axle load limit even with its full equipment and the resulting total weight of 34 tonnes, making it possible to forego the use of expensive additional transportation vehicles.
