Datatag's Peter Wilson presents PC Daniel Haworth with a CESAR Champion award.

PC Daniel Haworth and PC Peter Mather, members of the Rossendale’s Rural Taskforce, Lancashire Constabulary, attended a location in Burnley where there had been a large piece of plant machinery left parked overnight. PC Haworth and PC Mather attended the location in support of Immediate Response. Through the Rossendale Rural Taskforce’s knowledge of Datatag and the CESAR Scheme, officers were able to use their scanning device and quickly identify the Manitou Telehandler as stolen. This vehicle alone is valued at approximately £40,000 resulting in one very relieved owner upon its discovery.

Peter Wilson of Datatag’s Police Liaison Team presented the award to the officers in July. “This type of crime impacts communities and business owners significantly. Through the Rural Taskforce teams, Lancashire Constabulary is committed to proactively tackling this problem” said PC Haworth on receiving the award.

CESAR, powered by Datatag, can be fitted to any construction or agriculture machine that is at risk of theft. The tamper-evident label acts as an initial deterrent and the multiple layers of technology help to identify the machine. All the owner and machine details are stored on the CESAR secure database for police to double-check any machine quickly and easily. For more information visit https://www.cesarscheme.org/index.php
