Datatag welcomes Vincent Lane as its new Police Liaison and Training Officer

The Datatag Police Liaison Team (PLT) are a key link between the Datatag team and Police across the UK. With relationships growing throughout the UK, Datatag have hired Vincent Lane to join the team to support the ongoing operation.

Vincent has a 17-year career history as a PC and is a specialist vehicle examiner with extensive experience with the Datatag product range. Vincent also spent a long spell as a dedicated rural response officer with a particular passion for tackling vehicle crime where he personally recovered a significant number of stolen vehicles with a value of in excess of £1.2million. Vincent has recovered far in excess of this throughout his career, especially during his secondment to NaVCIS.

Vincent’s role with Datatag involves working with the police forces in the south of England examining vehicles and machinery, including plant, cars, motorcycles and watercraft. He will also be responsible for the investigation, identification, and reinstatement of a recovered asset and assisting Police officers with training on the Datatag CESAR scheme and law enforcement.

" I have a particular passion for tackling vehicle crime and have personally recovered a considerable number of stolen working vehicles. I coordinated our response to all construction and agricultural plant machinery theft throughout Hampshire. I created a weekly plant theft and rural crime bulletin which included images of each respective machine. This helped fellow police officers, who might not be familiar with plant machinery, of what to look for in stolen machinery on their travels. This generated a good recovery rate of stolen plant. I believe that Datatag is at the forefront of fighting vehicle crime and the CESAR Scheme is a great success,” Vincent said.




“ Following my secondment to NaVCIS I wanted to stay within vehicle crime, therefore, when I saw that Datatag was recruiting – I checked the job description and it ticked all of the boxes and more. I’m delighted to be on the team covering the South Coast where I have many contacts in neighbouring forces and I’m looking forward to providing support and guidance,” Vincent added.
